LATEST PROJECTS

Finding the Real Problem

Sometimes the biggest challenge isn't fixing the damage—it's finding what's causing it.

When Danny contacted us, water was leaking into his bedroom every time it rained. His roof had already been replaced just a few years earlier, so naturally everyone assumed the roof wasn't the issue.

During our inspection, we discovered something unexpected. Behind the existing siding, the home's exterior had been finished with drywall instead of proper exterior sheathing. We removed the siding, installed structural plywood, wrapped the home with Tyvek® weather barrier, and completed the exterior with new siding to provide the protection the home should have had from the beginning.

After the project was complete, another heavy rain came—and the bedroom leaked again. Danny called during the storm, and told us it was still leaking.

Instead of walking away, we went back to work during the storm. We continued investigating because solving the homeowner's problem mattered more than simply finishing the original scope of work. By carefully tracing the source of the water intrusion, we discovered the real culprit: the roof was installed without decking, and was allowing water to enter despite the roof having been replaced only a few years earlier.

The hardest part was telling Danny that the roof he paid for a few years earlier had not been installed correctly. When you do not install the correct decking, and install the shingles directly on 1x6 frame, it is not one solid surface. Water WILL leak down in between those boards.

Danny took the news like a champ, and we discounted as much as we could. Once the true source of the leak was corrected, the problem was finally resolved.

At Veterans Siding & Exteriors of Kansas, we believe our job isn't finished until we've found the right solution. Sometimes that means looking beyond the obvious and refusing to settle for "good enough."

Garage Conversion – Creating More Room for Family

When life changes, sometimes the perfect home simply needs a little more space.

For this project, our team transformed an underused garage into a beautiful, fully finished bedroom designed to give a growing family the extra living space they needed—without the expense and stress of moving.

From framing and insulation to drywall, flooring, electrical work, lighting, trim, and the finishing touches, every detail was completed with comfort, functionality, and long-term durability in mind. The finished room blends seamlessly with the rest of the home, creating a space that feels like it has always been there.

At Veterans Siding & Exteriors of Kansas, we believe every remodeling project should improve not just a house, but the way a family lives. Whether it's converting a garage, finishing a basement, or reimagining unused space, we're proud to help homeowners make the most of the home they already love.

Project Highlights

  • ✔ Complete garage-to-bedroom conversion

  • ✔ Added valuable living space without expanding the home's footprint

  • ✔ Full framing, insulation, drywall, and interior finishing

  • ✔ New flooring, trim, lighting, and electrical updates

  • ✔ Comfortable, energy-efficient design

  • ✔ Seamlessly integrated with the existing home

  • ✔ Customized to meet the family's changing needs

  • ✔ Increased both functionality and long-term home value

Why Homeowners Love Garage Conversions

A garage conversion can be one of the most cost-effective ways to add usable square footage to your home. Whether you need an extra bedroom, home office, guest suite, hobby room, or private living space for a family member, converting existing space often costs less than building an addition while adding significant value to your property.

A Fresh Start for a Lawrence Home

Every home deserves to feel safe, welcoming, and well cared for.

We were contacted by the caretaker of a Lawrence women with mental and physical challenges. Loud noises ramped up her anxiety and she was not a fan of change.

When we arrived at this Lawrence home, the exterior had seen better days. Aging siding and boarded-up windows had taken away from the home's appearance and left it looking tired. Our goal wasn't simply to install new siding—it was to restore pride in the home while providing lasting protection from the Kansas weather.

Our team removed the old exterior materials and installed beautiful new siding that completely transformed the home's curb appeal. Fresh trim and updated finishes gave the house a clean, modern appearance while improving durability and reducing future maintenance. All while trying to keep the homeowner's distractions to a very minimum.

Throughout the project, we also made it a priority to work respectfully around the homeowner's individual needs, ensuring the experience was as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Today, the home has a fresh new look, improved protection, and an exterior the homeowner can be proud of for years to come.

Project Highlights

  • ✔ Complete exterior siding replacement

  • ✔ Replaced damaged and aging exterior materials

  • ✔ Updated boarded window areas for a clean, finished appearance

  • ✔ Installed durable, low-maintenance siding

  • ✔ Improved weather resistance and energy efficiency

  • ✔ Enhanced curb appeal with a modern exterior design

  • ✔ Careful, respectful jobsite management throughout the project

  • ✔ Increased the home's long-term value and protection

Why This Project Matters

This project is a reminder that home improvement is about more than materials—it's about helping homeowners feel proud of where they live. By combining quality craftsmanship with genuine care for the homeowner, we transformed not only the exterior of the house but also the confidence that comes with coming home to a place that looks beautiful and is built to last.

Weathering Multiple Storms

When severe Kansas storms hit, one homeowner found themselves dealing with more than just a damaged exterior. After multiple rounds of hail and high winds, the home had sustained damage to the siding, trim, gutters, and other exterior components, leaving it vulnerable to further weather exposure.

Our team conducted a thorough inspection, documented the storm damage, and worked with the homeowner throughout the restoration process. We replaced the damaged exterior materials, restored the home's appearance, and ensured everything was properly sealed and protected against future storms.

The result was a home that not only looked like new again but was ready to stand up to whatever Kansas weather brings next.

Project Highlights

✔ Complete storm damage inspection

✔ Identified damage from multiple severe weather events

✔ Replaced damaged siding and exterior materials

✔ Repaired trim and other affected components

✔ Restored the home's curb appeal

✔ Improved long-term weather protection

✔ Guided the homeowner through the restoration process

✔ Completed with quality craftsmanship and attention to detail

Why This Project Matters

Storm damage isn't always obvious. Multiple storms over time can weaken a home's exterior and allow small problems to become costly repairs. By identifying hidden damage early and restoring the home's protective envelope, we helped this homeowner protect one of their biggest investments and regain peace of mind.

Noni C had a old farmhouse, and wanted new vinyl siding. Putting new siding on a very old farmhouse is a complex project often plagued by structural, aesthetic, and historical challenges. The primary difficulties stem from uneven surfaces, hidden moisture damage, and the need to preserve historic character while upgrading to modern, durable materials.

Kim B in Topeka received a letter from the wonderful City of Topeka about fixing the soffit above her door, and painting her siding. The roof had a small leak that she did not notice until the soffit fell. We called the insurance and they helped her pay for what she needed!

Arin R in Burlington, KS needed siding pretty bad. I think it turned out amazing!

Amelia S had nothing but trouble as a first homebuyer in Topeka, KS. I hate when that happens. The previous owners even went so far as to put white duct tape on the siding, because it blended in so well. I hope Karma meets up with them.

She needed siding work, a new roof, and some help with the front yard that the city tore up because of a backed-up sewer right after she moved in. We had to help her, of course. We called her insurance and got her a new roof, fixed up her siding, and our daughter even renewed her front yard!
